We are so pleased to have represented The Bake Shoppe with one of our cakes featured in this amazing “Gone With the Wind meets Coco Chanel” inspired photo shoot at Cheekwood Botanical Gardens. It was so much fun being a part of all of the glamour and creating a cake to fit such a luxurious theme!
We love having such a beautifully bold inspiration photo to design a cake around such as the “Vivienne”, a french-inspired bridal gown that was created by Karen Hendrix Couture and displayed at the recent New York Bridal Fashion Week.
Be sure to check out all of the pictures from the photoshoot HERE. For more information on The Bake Shoppe or to set up a cake tasting/ consultation, please contact us by phone (615)321-2394 or email Amy@maineventpro.com.
The spark for Kristyn Hogan Photography initially started with a 10 yr. old little girl dressing up her little brother and neighbor girl as a bride and groom, picking up a camera and bringing make-believe to life. At 18, she had the pleasure of shooting her first “real” Bride and Groom and was hooked!
Since then, she has been capturing moments on film with her husband. They believe that a wedding isn’t just a day, it’s the full experience.
Kristyn leaves this note to Brides on her website: From the moment you met the one to the day he got down on one knee. Through all the planning to your beautiful wedding day to the rest of your life. It’s a journey. One that we love to share and a story we are honored to tell.
Check out a small sample of Kristyn’s work! We’d like to give a big THANK YOU to Kristyn Hogan photography for sending over some fantastic photos of some 2011 Bake Shoppe cakes!
We love how she captures light and color in these pictures!
Sometimes the best photos are of the small details that are easy to overlook!

First of all, I would like to thank pinterest for the majority of my inspiration photos for this post! One of the biggest trends in weddings/ event decor is burlap.
I don’t think there is a better way to incorporate Southern Charm or to evoke that charming rustic feel than the use of burlap. Plus, it is also very inexpensive while at the same time adds elegance to your soiree. We’ve put together a list of our favorite ways to decorate with this lovely fabric.
1. Linens
2. Monogrammed Decor
3. Centerpieces and Table Numbers
4. Cake – This was one that we did for a wedding at one of our favorite venues, Cj’s off the Square
5. Bouquet/Boutineer
6. Utensil Decor
7. Party Favors – coffee beans, sweets, or sachets of seeds for the Bride and Groom farewell
8. Pennants
9. Ceremony ambiance
10. Card Box/ Ring Pillows

When choosing a groom’s cake design, it can be a little tricky to find the cake that so perfectly captures the style and personality of your guy. Generally, the couple chooses designs based on a Groom’s interests, hobbies, clubs, favorite tv shows/movies, or sports team.
We love to show off our Groom’s cakes here at The Bake Shoppe, but there are so many awesomely unique cakes for guys that we had to split them up into categories to post! One of the most popular of these genres is sports themed cakes.
Baseball cakes are so fun and there are so many custom fondant pieces that can be added to make each cake unique. Aside from team logos, custom pieces could be anything from replicas of favorite baseball hats to vintage baseball mits, pitcher’s mounds, and more!
It is very popular for couple to ask for chocolate covered strawberries on their cake and most of the time, they adorn the Groom’s cake. We like to make them extra special and match the theme of the cakes if we can which is why we love these chocolate covered strawberries with little white chocolate football laces on them.
This happens to be one of our favorite Groom’s cakes in The Bake Shoppe’s history! The couple sent photos of the Groom’s actual golf bag for us to replicate all of the details right down to his monogrammed golf towel.

For those of you who couldn’t make it to the bridal shows this season, we thought we would share some pictures of our 2012 Bridal Show cakes.
We went with a vintage shabby chic theme this year and really feel like we have caputured the essence of the trend in these cakes. Hope you enjoy!
Trying to incorporate a very feminine look to these cakes, our decorators too inspiration from dresses and accessories through the edible pearls, ruffles, appliques, and lace with the addition of delicate handmade sugar flowers.
Shabby chic usually has a traditional white and ivory color pallate, however, we couldn’t resist add a few pops of color here and there to add a bit of an eye catching easthetic to the design details.

Spring is almost here, so we thought we’d point out some of our favorite cake flavors that give us that fresh, crisp taste of spring! You may notice a trend in our flavor choices… how can you resist fresh fruit added to our delicious traditional white cake?
#5 Strawberry – We puree fresh strawberries and add them to our traditional white cake
#4 Mandarine Orange – Delicate segments of mandarine oranges combined with fluffy vanilla cake
#3 Apricot – The subtle flavor of this cake is the result of sweet apricot nectar added to our traditional vanilla cake.
#2 Raspberry – Ripe red raspberries pureed and swirled into our white cake adding a sweet bit of raspberry in every bite
#1 Lemon Lavendar – Our delicious lemon cake sprinkled with aromatic dried lavendar flowers

Believe it or not, we have already seen quite a few Brides planning their fall 2012 Wedding. With respect to that, we thought it was appropriate to share one of our favorite fall weddings at Legacy Farms, Karen McNamara and Brad Frye with photography by Scoobie’s Photographic Images.
The covered pavillion in the courtyard is such a great spot for an outdoor ceremony. There are so many ways to customize this space as well! We have seen it transformed with such things as hanging lanterns from the rafters or stained glass window panels hung on the sides of the pavillion to combine the feel of a traditional church wedding with the great outdoors.
Karen and Brad’s Reception took place in the event center at Legacy Farms complete with dinner from A Catered Affair, dancing to tunes from JD’s Music, and cake from The Bake Shoppe.
The “See Rock City” sign on the property is one of our many favorite photo spots on the property. It provides such a unique backdrop for bridal party shots!
We’d like to offer a big Congrats and Thank You to newlyweds Karen and Brad for allowing us to be a part of their special day and share it with others! Hope their special day could be an inspiration to all those planning a fall 2012 wedding!

This year we’ve noticed that the “natural” cake designs have been very popular. We love the organic look and feel of this cake trend! These types of cakes would be perfect in an eco-friendly or even vintage inspired wedding. We’ve put together a few of our favorites from The Bake Shoppe…enjoy!
Classic Stucco Design- We just loved the Burlap Detail! And the flowers add such a feminine touch.
Fresh Berries and Shortcake – A uniquely light approach to the traditional wedding cake!
Vintage Rose Garden – Love that the bottom tier of cake is made to resemble a tree stump with the roses climbing up the top tiers!
Wood Grain – Awesome way to incorporate a monogram in a non-traditional way
Cupcakes- The use of pallets as display cases for cupcakes…genius!
