We love this rustic hutch as a beverage station. Usually when we are trying to achieve a look like this, we turn to our friends at Southern Events in Franklin to find the most awesome pieces of vintage furniture.

If you are looking for a venue to provide such character to your event, we suggest our very own Legacy Farms in Lebanon, Cj’s Off the Square in Franklin, and The Loveless Barn to name a few!

Whenever I think of events with those quintessential Southern details, I can’t help but think of our very own Legacy Farms. With its historic Manor house and lush rolling acreage, it is steeped in Southern charm and character!

So for this series of DIY bride blog posts, Legacy Farms is my inspiration. Every idea has this wonderful venue in mind and would work perfectly in the space. Even if you aren’t hosting an event with us here at Legacy, I encourage you to take some of these ideas and add a little Southern charm to your event!

Mason jars have long since been a symbol of the South, and recently, they have become a very trendy item used in a variety of ways to add a bit of southern character to an event. I’ve found 5 inspiration photos to demonstrate ways to incorporate this trend into your event decor.

Drinking Glasses

This is the traditional way to utilize mason jars during receptions or Special Events. Having a keg? Skip the Pint and Pilsner glasses and opt for mason jars! Or serve a signature lemonade or cocktail in the vintage tumblers.

Lighting

Whether dangling from wire allowing the glowing orbs of light sway in the wind, adding pops of color and light to a candle chandelier, or simply wrapped in raffia set atop tables in a centerpiece illuminating the smiles on your guests faces, the soft candle light through the glass of a mason jar creates the perfect ambient atmosphere for weddings.

Favors

These precious little pies are assemble and baked right into these pint-sized mason jars making them the perfect portable treat for your guests to take home!

First of all, I would like to thank pinterest for the majority of my inspiration photos for this post!  One of the biggest trends in weddings/ event decor is burlap.

I don’t think there is a better way to incorporate Southern Charm or to evoke that charming rustic feel than the use of burlap. Plus, it is also very inexpensive while at the same time adds elegance to your soiree. We’ve put together a list of our favorite ways to decorate with this lovely fabric.

Decorating for the season is something that many of us look forward to…especially during this time of year!  Working in the baking and catering industry, we are a bit biased to the opinion that food is beautiful, so why not incorporate it into your decor? Especially since there are so many great ideas to incorporate seasonality into your centerpieces, food displays, and decorations.

artichokebetter cabbagevase

There are certain fruits and veggies that are so vibrant in shape or color which are perfect for decor: flowering purple cabbages and artichokes are a few of them. Florists have been using these in bouquets and centerpieces for years! They are readily available in fall and winter and would make a great centerpiece for your table. Place in vases of water or cut holes in the middle and insert votive candles similar to our inspiration photos!

img_0962   pea

Glass containers filled with water and bright fruits or veggies can be great too!

Peas, citrus, and apples are just a few seasonal ideas that are great for summer. Citrus can be so versatile as a highlight to a beverage table like this one at CJ’s Off the Square and catered by our very own A Catered Affair or sliced and put into glass vases with floral arrangements. And just take a look at this inspiration photo of the peas! Such a unique item would add just the right amount of color to your centerpieces.

crancenter

However, cranberries would make a perfect winter centerpiece! To recreate our inspiration photo, simply place cranberries, water, and floating candles in glass containers to add a little ambiance or place a candle inside a glass cylinder and fill the space between the candle and cylinder with the colorful orbs!

This party, hosted at 1418 Events and catered by A Catered Affair was all about the freshness of summer! From the food to the decor, this event evoked that fresh, crisp feeling of summer by using bright granny smith apples as the pillars in between glass platters to create a tiered dessert stand and add a whimsical flair to the centerpieces!

When it comes to seasonal edible decor, there are two things to keep in mind.

1. Sustainability- Food items used as decor should be able to sit at room temperature without spoiling or turning brown

2. Color – Decor should be complimentary to the event space. Use foods with eye catching colors or shades that coordinate with your event.

The rest is up to you and the possibilities are endless!

What could make your Fantastic Flipbooks booth even more fun? Creating some personalized props!

When booking Fantastic Flipbooks for an event, you are already guaranteed a substantial amount of props ranging from sunglasses to silly hats as well as boas, musical instruments, etc. However, it is always fun to add a few props that will set your photo shoot apart. These can be hand-made or simply purchased at any party store.

mustache

While searching for props, keep in mind that it is always better for them to be bright and exaggerated.

Some of our favorites are these handmade mustaches on sticks!

These are so easy to make! All you have to do is cut different shapes of mustaches out of black felt and hot glue them to a wooden skewer! They give such a sense of whimsy to the photographs…

I mean how can you not laugh while holding a large handle-bar mustache over your mouth?

photoframe

Holding picture frames has become very popular in still photography. It would also make a great prop for Fantastic Flipbooks!

Frames painted with bold colors would definitely make a statement in your photos. As you know, as far as Flipbooks are concerned, movement is key; so moving or spinning a large bright frame would add a great visionary aspect to the shots!

photochalk

Allow guests to send messages by adding chalkboards!

Since hosts of the event receive a disc with all of the night’s videos, this would be a great way to share best wishes for the Bride and Groom or doodle funny captions to animate their Flipbook!

Fantastic Flipbooks are so fun! Whether you decide to create personalized props or stick with the wide range already offered, a Fantastic Flipbooks booth at your event is sure to please everyone in attendance! For more information visit www.fantasticflipbooks.com or contact us today by phone 615-321-2394 or email Kellie Bryson at kellie@maineventpro.com for more details.

Many of our clients are juggling work, family, social lives, and sometimes school while planning their event. At Main Event Productions, we understand that multitasking is the key to success during this special time.

There are so many ways to capture the essence of your event or reception with today’s technology. Photographers will plan ahead to capture special moments and photo booths capture goofy stills of your guests squished together on a tiny stool behind a curtain where no-one else can enjoy the excitement.

Talk about instant gratification, these flipbooks are completed in two minutes from the start of the six second photo shoot! Six seconds you say? Yes, it does seem like a short period of time, but you will be amazed at the amount of gyrating you can do in six seconds!

The DIY Bride… English Tea

This year the Royal Wedding brought lavish English tradition into the spotlight, sparring a new trend in wedding themes. We are always looking for inspiration at Main Event Productions, and thought we’d share a few ideas with couples who want a little something of the English tea sentiment at their reception.

A few chandeliers over the head table could really evoke the feeling of royalty.

tea

Even better, when positioned just right over a hot beverage bar, this DIY statement piece can also be used as a serving station for guests.

teabagschand     teabagchand

This chandelier was actually made by one of our Legacy Farms couples. Julia and Justin Battles along with the help of family and friends spent two days attaching over 400 tea bags to the wire rings then stringing the tiered chandelier with pearls, moss, and vintage inspired flowers. With all of the love and time invested into this project, they decided to donate THIS chandelier to Legacy Farms for other brides to use!

cake-stand stand

We especially love the cupcake stands made out of vintage china! Fill the tea cups/bowls with candy coated almonds or flowers and line the plates with cupcakes, scones, or tea cakes. The only thing that could make these more gorgeous are some lovely treats from The Bake Shoppe! The hustle and bustle of the Holidays is enough to turn anyone into a bit of a Scrooge. With so many details to juggle, baking a Yule log and cooking up a feast for the annual holiday party is just not an option! There are presents to wrap, family time to schedule, and guests to impress.

holiday-bar cocktails

This year, let Main Event Productions cross the stress of holiday entertaining off of your list so you can relax and enjoy the season!

Speaking of sugary plums, let’s talk desserts! The Bake Shoppe has traditional delights with new exciting twists that will brighten eyes and spirits.

Wedding Reception Décor Inspiration

I decided to take a little walk on the web and find ideas that could easily be incorporated into any wedding reception décor.

Vases of varying sizes, shapes, and materials can be unified with mere paper bags to serve as fresh, bright centerpieces at a casual wedding. Slip the plain white lunch bags over the containers and cinch the tops loosely with ribbons tied in bows. www.marthastewartweddings.com

This guest signature picture frame mat is a fabulous and unique alternative to a traditional paper and cardboard guest book, allowing guests to engrave their own names and well wishes into the frame to create a lasting and personalized keepsake to forever remember the special occasion. www.idoengravables.com

Here’s the perfect solution for your table number/name cards! What a beautiful way to light up your reception tables and also illuminate the way for your guests to find their tables. www.momentsofelegance.com
