Ahh… It’s bridal show season… Now is the time for all of our summer and fall brides to hit the hotels and convention centers and completely immerse themselves in all things wedding! What could make your Fantastic Flipbooks booth even more fun? Creating some personalized props!

Legacy Farms was honored to host the Nashville Wedding Planners Group luncheon in September. The Nashville Wedding Planners Group is a group for local wedding planners with the purpose of bringing Nashville’s wedding planners together for the ultimate betterment of the industry as a whole.
The guests were treated to a tour of Legacy Farms and a delicious lunch by A Catered Affair. Several additional vendors demonstrated their products and shared practical tips that each person could take back to their office and use right away.

Main Event Productions is providing an event for free to a deserving organization. The event will be hosted at Legacy Farms and will include the facility rental, tables, chairs, dinner menu, waitstaff, linens, centerpieces and parking attendants for up to 200 guests.
Ten charitable organizations will be making a presentation to the judging committee this week. They will be scored on their scope of services, financial need, creativity of presentation, and the creative plan for the event.
The Top 5 will move on to the next round of competition at the July 28th Legacy Farms Open House. Attendees at this event will be asked to cast their vote for the most deserving organization. The judges score and popular vote will be combined to determine the winner which will be announced that evening.
Without further ado, the Top 10 –
- 15th Judicial Child Advocacy Center – Providing child sexual abuse prevention education since 2004.
- A Soldier’s Child Birthday Foundation – Founded in 2008, the foundation provides a meaningful birthday gift to children who have lost a parent in a war.
- Adventure Science Center – A cultural institution dedicated to offering educational opportunities for the entire community since 1945. Their mission is to make an investment in youth and community to inspire life-long discovery in science.
- Almost Home Animal Rescue of Rutherford County – Dedicated to improving the welfare of companion animals through rescue, rehabilitation, adoption, spay/neuter, education and awareness.
- Greenhouse Ministries – Providing basic human services, homeless housing and adult education to the Murfreesboro community since 1999.
- Habitat for Humanity of Wilson County – Founded in 1993, this organization has a goal to eliminate poverty housing by building simple, decent, affordable homes for deserving families in their community.
- HomeSafe of Wilson County – Provides emergency shelter, peer counseling support groups, legal advocacy, assistance with food and other personal needs, as well as community education regarding domestic violence. Founded in 1983.
- Mt. Juliet Help Center – Providing food and utility assistance to thousands in West Wilson County more almost 30 years.
- Tennessee Fisher House Foundation – Founded in 2007, this foundation provides free lodging for active duty, retired and veteran families while a loved one is hospitalized at the Alvin C. York VA Medical Center in Murfreesboro. They also offer a free shuttle service to the Nashville VA Hospital for those who have loved ones there.
- Wilson County CASA, Inc. – Provides volunteers to help children who have been victims of abuse.

Bling! We are getting more calls for cakes with rhinestones and pearls. You must remove them before you cut the cake as you don’t want dental bills resulting from Uncle Ned chomping down on a pearl, but it’s a lovely and unexpected décor element.

Black and white! These colors make a powerful statement. We recently showcased a monochromatic cake at a bridal show which featured a silhouette of the bride and groom. It was a tremendous hit.

Legacy Farms is planning an Open House event on July 28th and we want your organization to be a part of it! Organizations who wish to present will be given the opportunity to appear before a panel of judges on July 21st. Those who make presentations will be invited to host a table-top display during the Legacy Farms Open House where the guests will have the opportunity to talk to each organization one-on-one and then vote for their favorite. Just like Dancing with the Stars, the scores from the presentation and the popular vote will be combined and the winner will be announced at the Open House.

I have a confession to make. I know! If you could only see the guilt and shame written on my face! Since you can’t, I will write it on the blog.

Whenever I receive a wedding “Save the Date” and even an actually invitation to the wedding, two things either happen…
1. the Save the Date/Wedding Invitation gets stuck on the fridge and remains there unnoticed even after the date passes or
2. it all gets thrown away!
Now, who else is guilty of this? Don’t leave me hanging!
I will say, those “Save the Dates” that are unique and non-traditional seem to stand out more and survive my forgetfulness. It also paints a fun picture of the couple’s personality.
