Weddings today are all about customization. After all it is YOUR day, so let’s make it as personal as we can! Cake toppers are literally the pinnacle of the cake. Which is why they need to be as beautiful as the piece of confectionery art it sits atop!
Traditional wedding toppers are usually bride and groom statuettes, a metal monogram, or flowers. Those are great, but we’ve got a few ideas for the couple that wants their wedding topper to be as fun and unique as they are! We’ve found 4 DIY inspirations that are sure to fit any wedding theme!
For the Romantic
This topper was made from only wire and beads! The wire was twisted into the cursive monogram of choice then clear and pearl beads were strung along the wire. It’s hard to believe that such an elegant topper was so easy to make!
For the Eco-Friendly
All of these items were purchased at a craft store! The important thing to remember when making this topper is that the base of the nest needs to be smaller than the top tier of your cake. Usually the top tier of a wedding cake is 6 inches in diameter, so a 4 inch foam circle is recommended for the bottom of the birds’ nest. Also it is important to point out that when making a topper, the bottom material should be a food safe item such as the foam circle used here to keep the sticks and moss out of the cake.
For the Vintage Inspired
We LOVE vintage china! What a wonderful way to update the fresh flower wedding cake topper! Simple floral foam inside the tea cup will keep the mini bouquet fresh for days! Just remember to keep this topper light! A heavy topper will sink into the cake below if not well supported, so let your baker know ahead of time if you are planning on using this idea.
For the Organic Couple
Pure. Simple. Wonderful. This cursive lettering was shaped by bending wire then yarn was wrapped around the word.

What could make your Fantastic Flipbooks booth even more fun? Creating some personalized props!
When booking Fantastic Flipbooks for an event, you are already guaranteed a substantial amount of props ranging from sunglasses to silly hats as well as boas, musical instruments, etc. However, it is always fun to add a few props that will set your photo shoot apart. These can be hand-made or simply purchased at any party store.
While searching for props, keep in mind that it is always better for them to be bright and exaggerated.
Some of our favorites are these handmade mustaches on sticks!
These are so easy to make! All you have to do is cut different shapes of mustaches out of black felt and hot glue them to a wooden skewer! They give such a sense of whimsy to the photographs…
I mean how can you not laugh while holding a large handle-bar mustache over your mouth?
Holding picture frames has become very popular in still photography. It would also make a great prop for Fantastic Flipbooks!
Frames painted with bold colors would definitely make a statement in your photos. As you know, as far as Flipbooks are concerned, movement is key; so moving or spinning a large bright frame would add a great visionary aspect to the shots!
Allow guests to send messages by adding chalkboards!
Since hosts of the event receive a disc with all of the night’s videos, this would be a great way to share best wishes for the Bride and Groom or doodle funny captions to animate their Flipbook!
Fantastic Flipbooks are so fun! Whether you decide to create personalized props or stick with the wide range already offered, a Fantastic Flipbooks booth at your event is sure to please everyone in attendance! This year the Royal Wedding brought lavish English tradition into the spotlight, sparring a new trend in wedding themes. We are always looking for inspiration at Main Event Productions, and thought we’d share a few ideas with couples who want a little something of the English tea sentiment at their reception.
A few chandeliers over the head table could really evoke the feeling of royalty.
Even better, when positioned just right over a hot beverage bar, this DIY statement piece can also be used as a serving station for guests.
This chandelier was actually made by one of our Legacy Farms couples. Julia and Justin Battles along with the help of family and friends spent two days attaching over 400 tea bags to the wire rings then stringing the tiered chandelier with pearls, moss, and vintage inspired flowers. With all of the love and time invested into this project, they decided to donate THIS chandelier to Legacy Farms for other brides to use!
We especially love the cupcake stands made out of vintage china! Fill the tea cups/bowls with candy coated almonds or flowers and line the plates with cupcakes, scones, or tea cakes. The only thing that could make these more gorgeous are some lovely treats from The Bake Shoppe!
