Just in case you can’t tell from the pictures, this airplane is not resting on the map-like sheet cake below. Nope! It’s in the air! Last week we blogged about having the privilege of attending a Bronwen Weber 3D Santa Cake Sculpting Class and now it’s time to show a little about what we learned!
Working with PVC pipes is a new playground for us to play in, so we were very excited to learn how to create our Santa “skeleton” to provide a stronger support system and shape for the big guy!

We then covered the PVC piping with modeling chocolate and gave Santa some curvy arms and legs! His belly is actually made up of cake! We stacked 3 layers of cake and went to carving his pear-like shape belly!

Santa was getting a little chilly so he needed his famous red suit! This was pieced on to his modeling chocolate and cake body out of red fondant!
After Santa was finally dressed, it was time to give him a face, some buttercream hair, hat, buttons, and gloves! And there you have it…SANTA!!!!
